Explanations Updated In Google Ads Video Transcription:

Thomas Green here with Ethical Marketing Service, today I wanted to share an update that Google has made to explanations. If you are unaware, explanations is a fairly new feature added to Google Ads. Which helps you understand large fluctuations in the data in your campaigns.

In order to view explanations. You need to use the compare tool when selecting your timeframe and the date’s you compare have to be in the last 90 days.

Once you select your timeframe, if explanations can help, the metrics will come up in blue underneath the main numbers. When you click, it will give you a diagnosis as to why the data has fluctuated in the way that It has.

The update from Google is that now Conversions has been added. Which means if your conversions have increased or decreased significantly, there should be an explanation that Google can diagnose and tell you why.

Given that traditionally this is a manual activity. I think this will be a big help, Google have hinted they will be adding more to this tool over the coming months.

It’s worth remembering that explanations will only show for campaigns which are using a manual CPC or eCPC bidding strategy. But it’s well worth a look if you haven’t used It already.
